Church Covenant

Adapted from A Declaration of Faith by J. Newton Brown (1853)

Having been brought by God's sovereign grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, we joyfully covenant together as an assembled local body of Christ, to walk together in Him to His glory. We do therefore, in His strength, agree that:

We will strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, unity and love;

We will exercise a Christian watch-care over each other, faithfully warning, exhorting, and admonishing each other in love as occasion may require, being slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation, striving to maintain a biblical unity one with another;

That we will rejoice at each other's happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other's burdens and sorrows;

We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but will faithfully sustain our public worship of God, while upholding the ordinances, doctrines, and disciplines of this church;

We will faithfully use our talents and spiritual gifts to edify and strengthen the body of Christ at CCC, until we all reach unity in the faith and become mature;

We will regularly and cheerfully contribute, as God has prospered us, to the expenses of this church, and the support of its ministries;

We will faithfully engage in the disciple-making process, desiring to honor Christ through our obedience to the Great Commission;

We will cultivate private and family worship at home, bringing up our children in the way of the faith, training them for the service of Christ;

We will, being jealous of the honor of God's name as reflected through this church, walk circumspectly in the world, guarding ourselves from all sin;

We will, when we remove ourselves from this place, unite with another church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of the Word of God;

We will in all conditions strive to live to the glory of God.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all. Amen.
